Susan Herman

Susan Herman has been involved in education her entire professional career. Her teaching career began at Seneca Valley Middle School, and continued at Slippery Rock University where she taught for thirty-four years. She served in many different capacities at SRU including Department Chair of Exercise Science, Director of the Russell Wright Fitness Center, Coordinator of the Faculty Wellness Program, and Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach.
Mrs. Herman has been active in the Grove City community through her involvement with GCASD School Board serving three terms in which she was elected President and Vice President. She was honored by the Pennsylvania School Board Association in 2015 and was awarded Master School Board Director Distinction “In recognition of exceptional accomplishments in attaining the goals of effective governance and meeting the needs of students for the 21st century.”
She also served as Vice President of the GCASD PTO, served on the YMCA Board of Directors, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. An organization that provides scholarships to Grove City students and prepares meals for students during the summer months. She was recognized at the state level by Delta Kappa Gamma and inducted in the Album of Distinction twice for educational leadership, community service, and engagement through serving on the Grove City Area School District School Board of Directors. Finally, with a passion for youth sports, she has coached in the Grove City Little League, Grove City Youth Soccer, Grove City Softball, and Grove City Travel Basketball program.
